Begin to exercise a form of assertiveness that does not require confrontation. 

Resist comment on their opinions and use silence to speak volumes.  Then change the topic.  Stop sharing your desires and plans with them and find a supportive audience.  They should soon realize that they have less influence over your decisions and stop interfering. 

If they don’t, you may have to put distance in the relationship by returning fewer phone calls and being in the person’s company less.  Sometimes, people who insist on raining on your parade and overpowering your thoughts about YOUR life have to be loved from afar.
